Meet your guide to start your tour by visiting Al-Azhar Park , In 1984, Aga Khan IV was visiting Cairo on a conference. From his hotel balcony; Al-Darassa hill was visible: mounts of wreckage and ruins amassed during 500 years. He decided to intervene and offer that medieval area via the Historic Cities Support Programme the much-needed gift of an oasis in this urban desert. The sum of 30 million dollars was allocated to the project and put in the qualified hand of a local architecture and urbanism office: Then move to The Orman Garden is one of the most famous Botanical gardens in Egypt. It is located at Giza, in Cairo. It dates back to 1875 and the reign of Khedive Isma'il Pasha who established the garden on a larger site than it presently occupies as part of the Palace of the Khedive. A great lover of gardens, the Khedive entrusted the design of the garden to the French landscaper Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps. It became a public botanical garden in 1910/1917 and put under the Ministry of Agriculture management.
The garden covers about 28 acres. Today, the garden contains a rock garden, a rose garden, cactus gardens, and probably the most notable feature, the lotus pond.Orman Garden is located west of the River Nile and east of Cairo University in the Giza Governorate. “Orman” is a Turkish word, which means “the forest”. A small botanical museum attached to the garden shelters herbaria dating from the Ismail khedive and furniture from the king Farouk.
Continue to Wadi Degla Protectorate is a nature reserve located in Cairo Governorate and covers an area of 60 square kilometers. The reserve is a valley running from east to west with a length of 30 km. The valley may be from the rocks that were deposited through time over 60 million years, which are limestone rocks, and the reserve is rich in fossils that you can see. It also has a good group of animals such as deer, hares, red foxes, reptiles, turtles and birds, which are very suitable if you want to get some rest and fun away from the city atmosphere and noise.
Do not hesitate and visit it with family or friends and take some souvenir photos. Then move to Helwan City To visit the Japanese Garden, It was established in the Helwan area (south of Cairo) in 1917, but it was probably used as a tea garden with golden sunshine. The Japanese Garden is dotted with many walking slopes that are dotted with beautiful trees on both sides. The garden is one of the largest unique gardens in Cairo, with an area of 40,468 square meters, equivalent to (about 10 acres), and the Egyptians have cherished it since its opening in 1917. Bab Zuwayla, built in 1092, is one of three remaining gates in the City Walls, marking the southern limit of the Fatimid City of Cairo. It was constructed by the powerful Fatimid vizier Badr al-Jamali, who ruled Egypt from 1074 to 1094. It has twin minarets, which can be accessed via a steep climb. Bab Zuwayla was constructed, along with Bab al-Futuh and Bab al-Nasr, during the Fatimid period. An Armenian himself, Badr al-Jamali is reported to have employed Armenians from northern Mesopotamia, as well as Syrians, in a vast building campaign, which he started shortly after he assumed power. This work marks the beginning of a newly cultivated taste for stone in Cairo.
